The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale marked International Women’s Day with a community event recognising the contributions of women across the region.

Held at The ReStore Space in Serpentine, owned by Leah Gordon, the event brought together local leaders, community groups and residents to reflect on the role women play in building strong and connected communities.

Cr Courtney Mazzini delivered the keynote address, sharing what International Women’s Day means to her and reflecting on her experiences as a community leader. Shire President Rob Coales also spoke, paying tribute to the many ways women strengthen local communities.

Shelley Whiting, President Country Women’s Association Serpentine, spoke about the importance of CWA in the local community, and Leah Gordon spoke about her journey bringing The ReStore Space project to life.

Long‑serving Country Women’s Association member Ada Fawcett shared reflections on her decades with the CWA and the importance of connection, service and supporting women across generations.

Members of the Country Women’s Association – Serpentine Districts were recognised for their long-standing contributions to the community.

Councillors Matthew Scott and Reece Jerrett were also in attendance.

Thank you to event partners The ReStore Space and the Country Women’s Association – Serpentine Districts for their support in delivering the event and for their ongoing commitment to women of all ages.

This year’s International Women's Day theme, Give to Gain, emphasises that when people, organisations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase.
