In accordance with clause 28 of the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015, the approval of a local structure plan generally has effect for 10 years commencing on the day the Western Australian Planning Commission approves the plan, unless another approval period is determined or the approval period is extended. A local structure plan approved before 19 October 2015 is taken to have been approved on that day. Once the approval period has expired, the local structure plan no longer has effect and is not relied upon in the assessment of subdivision or development applications.
