Ramone Glasgow - Byford Rotary Club
Ramone Glasgow was recently recognised as a part of the Shire’s Volunteer Recognition Program for her hard work with the Byford Rotary Club. Ramone received a $50 voucher to a restaurant of her choice located within the Shire.
We asked Ramone a few questions about her experience volunteering:
How did you get involved in volunteering for your club/group?
I joined Rotary approx 4 years ago when I had my own window cleaning business for the Networking side of things. Once I ceased my business, I stayed on the committee because the members are like family to me. Very community and international minded individuals who help overseas and in our Shire.
How long have you been involved in volunteering?
I have been volunteering in many different organisations over 15 years. Rotary, Activate Byford, Kotahi softball club, Woodland Grove Primary School P&C and School Board, have been a member or Mundijong P.S P&C, running football and school canteens Bushrangers teeball club and so on.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
I love the idea of giving back. Giving your time to help the community is amazing. Coaching teeball was one of my most favourite things to do. Seeing the kids grow each week was beautiful. My 2 children are a part of every organisation that I am a part of. They attend meetings and help set up for Bingo!
What makes your club/group special to you?
Our Rotary Club is a very small group of individuals who care for others in our community and internationally. Our Friday night Bingo is about bringing the community together and sense of belonging for all. Cooking breakfast for Australia Day, making donuts at events or a sausage sizzle is some of the many opportunities we have had the privilege of being a part of.
Why would you recommend others to get involved in volunteering?
Not only is volunteering good for your mental health, it also produces good vibes around you. Whether it is school or club volunteering, please try it today. It gives you a sense of fulfilment and warm fuzzies helping others. I am humble to be a part of the organisations I am with. I love it
