- Where is the event being held?
Muddy Buddies is being held at Jarrahdale Oval, 86 Millars Rd, Jarrahdale WA 6124. Click here for directions.
- Do I need to register to attend the event?
Yes, all attendees 1yr+ (adults and children) must register for a ticket for this event due to venue capacity. It also allows us to communicate vital information to attendees if required.

- I can no longer attend; can we give our tickets to friends?
If you are no longer able to attend the event, we ask that you cancel your order via Humanitix so those who are on our waiting list have the chance to attend.
- Is there parking available?
Free parking is available at the oval. Please follow signage and enter the venue via Nettleton Road. There will be traffic management staff on site to assist with parking. Please note parking is located on uneven, unsealed gravel or grass surface.
- Will there be food at the event?
Yes! We will have several food trucks, ice-cream vans and a coffee van. We encourage those with dietary requirements or food preferences to bring along their own food options to avoid disappointment. - What do I wear?
We recommend wearing old clothes, old shoes, or gumboots as you are bound to Get Messy! Children can go barefoot in the mud, however, must be monitored at all times.
There will be a bag drop marquee so you can leave your change of clothes in a clean. dry space while you Get Muddy! The Shire cannot accept any responsibility for loss of property, injuries or damages that may occur at the event.
- What do I need to bring?
Items we suggest you bring along:
Spare clothes
Spare shoes
A towel
A picnic blanket or rug
A hat & sunscreen (even if it's overcast)
A water bottle
Money for food trucks (cash is preferred due to limited signal for EFTPOS)
- What if it’s raining?
Some of the activities may not be able to continue in wet weather, but the mud pits are often MUCH more fun in the rain. Pop on your gumboots and join us!
If extreme weather is forecast, the event may be postponed for safety reasons
- Will there be drinking water at the event?
A drinking fountain trailer will provide free water at the event. Water will also be available for purchase from the food vendors. The water from the Fire Brigade and Washdown Station is not for drinking.
- Will there be toilets at the event?
Portable toilets will be located close to the mud pits and washdown station
- Will there be somewhere to get changed?
We have organised for larger, accessible toilets which can be utilised for private changing facilities, however, please be respectful, courteous, and clean up any mess that you may make.
- What if my child doesn’t want to get in the mud pit?
- That’s okay! Messy play can be scary and intimidating. If you or your child do not want to play in the mud, there are plenty of other things to see and do at the event such as bush themed crafts, nature play and the Mud Spa!
- What if my child gets mud in their eye?
St John Ambulance will be on site to assist and will have the necessary equipment to clean muddy eyes.
- How do we wash off after the mud pit?
A wash down station will be located close to the mud pits (look for the big water truck!). Please view our Event Map for exact locations.
- Is this an accessible event?
Yes, those with accessibility requirements are more than welcome to attend at their own capacity. Sunday afternoon session will be low-sensory, meaning there will be less attendees and no music. We will have accessible parking options and toilets available; however, the event is held on an oval with uneven grass & gravel surrounds which may be difficult for those with mobility requirements.
- What if I have questions on the day?
If you require any assistance on the day, please look for Event Staff, identified in yellow hi-vis vests. You can also phone the SJ Shire afterhours phone on (08) 9526 1111.
- Can I bring my dog to the event?
For the comfort and safety of all attendees, please leave your pets at home. Assistance dogs are welcome if required but must be kept on a leash at all times.
- What happens with the mud, soil and straw bales after the event?
The mud, soil and straw bales are carefully chosen to ensure they do not have negative impacts upon the environment and are perfect to be reused after the event. Local gardens, schools and community organisations also benefit from the leftover supplies for mulch and fertilising purposes.
The Shire of SJ have also partnered up with Nature Play WA and other local businesses who are passionate about ensuring no trace is left behind, disposing of waste correctly, and only using the natural resources we need.
- Filming and Photography Consent
Photos & videos may be taken by professional photographers and event staff during this event
Images may be used by the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale and/or contracted event suppliers for marketing & promotional purposes. If you do not wish for your photo to be used in this way, please speak with the Event Staff or Photographer on the day. You will be issued with a coloured wrist band so we can identify and ensure that photos of you are not shared publicly.

- Safety
Parents/guardians are reminded that due to the nature of this event, children are the full responsibility of their parent or guardian on the day. If you, or a child in your care require medical attention, please visit St John First Aid staff.
If a child is lost, please report details to the closest Event Staff member, or report directly to the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale marquee. Likewise, if a child approaches you explaining they are lost, please report to Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale marquee.
Please take care and monitor safety within parking areas, near roads and pedestrian paths.
- Mud Pit Safety
The mud pits are created using native soil mix and water. Contact with soil is good for you, however if your child has an open wound, please ensure they do not enter the mud pit.
If your child has a history of allergies or skin issues, please proceed with caution and ensure they do not remain in the mud pit for an extended period of time.
Please use the washdown station (look for the big water truck) after your visit to the mud pit.
