A one-stop online resource has been developed to assist the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s local equine community gain further knowledge and information in respect to the keeping of horses.

Shire President Michelle Rich said the online Keeping of Horses resource was an interactive information module to promote equine management and best practices for horse owners and operators in the Shire.

“It is a resource that the Shire will continue to develop, as a way of supporting our valued equine community,” Cr Rich said.

“The Shire is well regarded for having a strong equine culture and we are committed to ensuring we support our equine community so it continues to thrive,” Cr Rich said.

“Over the past six months the Shire has worked with our local equine community to develop this online resource that empowers horse owners and operators with the information they need, from fencing, stables, irrigation, manure management, hay sheds and horse arenas.”

A first of its kind in equine management in the Peel Region, the interactive fly-through was created by Western Australian company Labbit and allows users to navigate through a local property and click on topics specific to their needs or interest.

Cr Rich said the fly-through provided easy to follow information for horse owners.

“I would like to thank our equine community for their support in developing this resource with Shire staff,” Cr Rich said.

“Their input and feedback was critical to ensure we provided information that was user-friendly and relevant to their needs.

“I am confident that this will be well used by our community and is part of our commitment of supporting and enhancing the diversity of equine activities within the Shire.”
