Residents at Serpentine Over 45 Lifestyle Village and Baptistcare Graceford were treated to live entertainment in the comfort of their own homes when musician Nikki Dagostino performed her roving solo-piano accordion act “Little Miss Squeezebox”.
From a safe physical distance, Ms Dagostino performed her roving solo-piano accordion act “Little Miss Squeezebox” on Wednesday, 13 May and brought some much needed fun and excitement to the day for the residents of both facilities.
Ms Dagostino has worked, performed, supported and toured with national and international artists including Australian roots musician Xavier Rudd, Toni Childs and The Drifters and WA bands Jebediah and Gyroscope.
Shire President Cr Michelle Rich said the Shire was pleased to make the performances possible, which helped lift the spirits of residents who may have been experiencing isolation during COVID-19.
“Our more senior residents have been affected during this period with visits from loved ones restricted, or not possible, to protect their health and wellbeing,” Cr Rich said.
“During these times it is important that we look out for one another and support residents to stay connected.
“It is great to know the performance from Ms Dagostino was well received by the residents.”
Baptistcare Lifestyle Coordinator, Zoey Madzongo said it was a pleasant surprise from the Shire to organise the visit.
“It was a wonderful reminder that although our residents are socially distancing, they are not being isolated by our community,” Ms Madzongo said.
“The community know we are here and our residents lives are being brightened in special ways like this entertainment.”
