Here in Serpentine Jarrahdale we’re lucky enough to be surrounded by beautiful reserves and pristine open spaces, and to celebrate Parks Week 2022 we’re highlighting some of our favourites.
Celebrated from 5 – 13 March, Parks Week shines the light on the vital role parks and reserves play within communities across Australia and New Zealand.
These local spaces help create connected and thriving communities. They host children’s birthdays, provide us with places to exercise together and are home to our local sporting and community groups.
Often taken for granted, Parks Week is a chance for us to appreciate how important these facilities are in SJ.
To celebrate Parks Week 2022, we’re highlighting local parks, ovals and reserves that help make our Shire such a liveable and enjoyable community. You can read more about each of them below.
Albizia Reserve, Byford
Set in the heart of bustling Byford, Albizia Reserve is a great spot to relax and spend quality time with the family.
The fresh new playground equipment is a great way for the kids to get active, while you can enjoy a shady spot to unwind.
There are basketball hoops for those looking to get some shots up, and plenty of space to enjoy.
Albizia Reserve is the perfect spot to hold a family get-together, or even just to make the most of a sunny afternoon.

Serpentine National Park
It’s our most famous tourism attraction, and it’s easy to see why!
The scenic setting and the wonder of the bushland backdrop help make Serpentine National Park a cornerstone of the Peel region.
There’s plenty to explore whether you’re keen on discovering the Kitty’s Gorge Trail or simply eager to enjoy a dip at the picturesque Serpentine Falls.
You’re likely to bump into some iconic Australian wildlife, and the native flora makes for a spectacular sight.
Whether you’re a local who knows the place like the back of your hand or a visitor seeking a delightful day out, Serpentine National Park is the perfect way to experience SJ.

Jarrahdale Oval
Did you know Jarrahdale Oval is a designated off-leash dog exercise area?
Located on Millars Road, the Oval was approved for off-leash dog exercise by the Serpentine Jarrahdale Council in 2021 and is now an ideal place for pooches of all shapes and sizes to run around and play.
You and your best bud can enjoy the roaming space the Oval has to offer while spending some quality time together, like Shire President Cr Michelle Rich pictured with her dogs Diezel and Munro.

Mundijong Oval
Home to the mighty SJ Blues Cricket Club and Centrals Football Club, Mundijong Oval plays a vital role in the Serpentine Jarrahdale community.
The ground has been the birthplace of many stellar athletic careers, nurturing junior sport in the region for decades.
It’s also been a space for locals to create memories at the many community events hosted there over the years, including the recent Food Truck Fiesta nights.
Mundijong Oval is also a great spot to get some individual exercise in, or simply to enjoy a quiet space and relax.
You can find Mundijong Oval at 6 Cockram Street, Mundijong.
