Local scooter enthusiasts showed off their skills and hundreds of young people flocked to Briggs Park in Byford to celebrate the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s Youth Fest 2021 event on Wednesday, 14 April.
Part of Youth Week WA, the festival saw 12 of the Shire’s scooter stars kickstart the day’s activities in a competition hosted and judged by young people.
Approximately 50 spectators watched participants compete across the beginner and intermediate categories in the scooter competition, with Freddie Ward and Dylan Snook winning the respective divisions.
Afterwards, more than 250 people attended the Youth Fest for an expo-style event.
A series of dodgeball games kept participants on their toes, while inflatable obstacle courses provided plenty of entertainment.
More importantly, the event gave the Shire’s young people and their families access to valuable information and resources.
Nine youth service providers held information stalls on the day, covering areas including mental health, education and training, transport and banking advice.
The Shire thanks all service providers who attended on the day, and acknowledges the contribution made by the Department of Communities which helped make the day possible.
