Christmas is coming and there are some great events happening around SJ to celebrate the festive season!

Why not help decorate the Mundijong Public Library Christmas tree or get started on your Christmas shopping and support local producers and makers at the SJ Farmers Market? 

There are many different experiences and events you can get involved in through our Countdown to Christmas.

SJ Christmas Lights Competition

Add some fun and sparkle to your home or business this festive season and enter our SJ Christmas Lights Competition. Winners will share in $1,700 worth of prizes.

Registrations: 1-24 November

Voting: 1 – 15 December

Winners announced: 17 December

SJ Farmers Market

Every Saturday until Christmas. 
8am - 11am
SJ Community Resource Centre, 2 Paterson St, Mundijong

Shop local and support local this Christmas at the SJ Farmers Market. There are market stalls showcasing fresh local produce and a variety of artisan products.


Christmas Markets and Food Truck Fiesta

Friday, 3 December
5pm – 8pm
6 Paterson St, Mundijong

Enjoy dinner from the food trucks, live music, a Christmas market, giant games for the kids and see the eucalyptus trees on Paterson Street light up! Santa Claus will also be dropping by for a visit. Find out more here.


Byford Carols

Saturday, 4 December
6.30pm – 9pm
Briggs Oval, Byford

Join in carol singing and story telling, enjoy live musical entertainment and a visit from Santa. There will also be a free sausage sizzle, kids activities and a visit from Santa!


Play in the Park Christmas Edition 

Thursday, 9 December
9am-11am
Percy’s Park, Mead Street, Byford

Enjoy free games, activities and a petting zoo plus get a chance to meet our roaming Christmas entertainers!

Suitable for families with children 0-5 years.


Beenyup Community Christmas Countdown

Friday, 10 December
5pm – 8pm
66 Shepparton Boulevard, Byford

Free family movie, bouncy castle, kids entertainment, food trucks and more!


Decorate the Mundijong Public Library Christmas Tree

Wednesday, 1 December – Friday, 24 December

The Mundijong Public Library Christmas tree will be up waiting for your decorating flair!

Christmas is a time for sharing and we'd like to share our tree with you, all materials are provided for you to make your own decoration to hang on our tree.

Join us during Library opening hours from 1 December right up to Christmas Eve and let’s make this the best decorated tree yet!

All materials provided and all ages welcome!


Christmas Craft and Story Time

Monday, 13 December
10am – 10.30am
Mundijong Public Library

Join us at the Library for a special Christmas edition of Story Time! There will be a free take home Christmas craft activity too.

Suitable for children aged 2-5.


Youth Christmas Lunch

Thursday, 23 December
10am-3pm
Briggs Park Youth Space, Mead Street, Byford

Calling all youth in the Shire! Join our Youth Team and celebrate the end of the year with a free sit down lunch and Christmas themed games and activities at the Briggs Park Youth Space in Byford. Suitable for ages 12-18.


Centrepoint Church Community Christmas Breakfast

Saturday, 25 December
8.30am – 10.30am
Kalimna Oval, 31 Wodalla Parade, Byford

Enjoy a free breakfast, with a variety of food options available - there's something for everyone, plus live entertainment.

This is a great opportunity to make some new friends, connect with your community, and join in on some fun!

Get To Know Your Neighbours

Christmas is a great time to make new connections in your community, introduce  yourself to neighbours you haven’t met yet and offer to collect each other’s mail over the holiday period.
