Community update - Transition from COVID-19 lockdown

As Perth and Peel prepares to transition out of the State Government’s three-day lockdown, please see an update below and what it means for Shire services from 8.30am tomorrow, Tuesday, 27 April 2021 until 12.01am, Saturday, 1 May 2021.

The Shire will continue to operate and deliver our services, in line with State Government directions to keep our community and staff safe.

Please remember masks must be worn in public, including at work, except for vigorous outdoor exercise, primary school children or if exempt.

The following Shire facilities will be open to customers, in line with the 4 square metre capacity rule and 20-person capacity limit:

  • Customer Service Centre (where possible, we encourage you to contact us via telephone on 9526 1111 or email via info@sjshire.wa.gov.au)
  • Mundijong Public Library – visitors will be required to sign in or use the SafeWA App
  • Watkins Road Transfer Station and Recycling Centre
  • Playgrounds
  • Skate Parks
  • Outdoor recreation facilities
  • Shire halls, pavilions, buildings - visitors will be required to sign in or use the SafeWA App
  • Byford Bark Park

Weekly and fortnightly waste and recycling collection are not interrupted. Continue to put your bins out on your normal days.

Our Emergency Services Team and Community Safety Team are an essential service to the community and this will continue during the week. Staff will wear PPE (face masks) and also maintain physical distancing protocols and regular hand sanitising.
