Community to benefit from Shire grants

Six local community and sporting groups have shared in more than $18,000 through the Shire’s General Grant Program for a variety of events and initiatives aimed at supporting the local community.

General Grants of up to $5000 (exc GST) are awarded to registered not-for-profit organisations and incorporated community groups to provide direct financial assistance towards initiatives that promote a sense of community and help resident be healthy, active and connected.

Following a competitive application process, the grants were awarded to the following groups:

Shire President Cr Michelle Rich said the Shire looked forward to seeing the initiatives being delivered over the coming months.

“The Shire is committed to helping our local sporting clubs and community groups so that they can continue to deliver programs and events for the benefit of their members and our wider community,” Cr Rich said.

“As we continue our local recovery from COVID-19, the six successful initiatives shows how we are providing support for those in our community who are doing it tough, while also bringing our community back together through sports and events.”

Round 2 of the Shire’s General Grant Program is now open and applications close 5pm, Monday, 9 November.
