Bushfire Preparedness: Developing a bushfire plan

Bushfires are unpredictable and happen every year. The single biggest killer is indecision. To survive a bushfire you must be prepared to make your own decisions.

Taking 5 minutes to improve or make a plan, will give your property, your family and yourself the best chance of survival should a bushfire threaten. It walks you through the decision making process for your fire planning, so that you and your family can make an informed decision about whether to be safe and leave early, or be prepared to stay and defend.

When planning for bushfires:

  • It’s really important to create a plan BEFORE an emergency happens.
  • Knowing your plan in advance will help to keep you and your family safer.
  • Take 5 Minutes with your household or neighbours to improve or make a plan.
  • Ensure your plan considered the limitations and needs of all family members.

 

This will help you decide whether to Be Safe and Leave Early or Be Prepared to Stay and Defend.
