Baker Hall offers new home to community groups

Baker Hall has reopened for community use and is available for hire following extensive upgrades and refurbishments to the Cardup facility.

The works were carried out help facilitate the relocation of the Shire’s Library Services to Byford Hall, and to provide user groups of that facility the opportunity to access new community spaces and facilities at Baker Hall.

Upgrades to the hall include:

  • New flooring
  • New kitchen facilities
  • New lighting and electrical works
  • Upgraded toilet facilities
  • Painting throughout
  • Outside maintenance
  • Improved parking facilities

Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale President Cr Michelle Rich said it was pleasing to see the community facility reactivated for public use.

“The re-opening of Baker Hall is the result of fantastic collaboration between our community, Shire staff and Council,” Cr Rich said.

“We look forward to seeing Baker Hall support our local community groups to grow and flourish, which aligns with the Shire’s vision to create a more active and connected community.”

Rise Dance Studio’s Aimee Morton said the group was thrilled to be moving into the upgraded space.

“Rise Dance Studio is looking forward to commencing classes in Baker Hall from October this year,” she said.

“We hope to make lots of memories in this beautifully revamped hall, surrounded by the bush scenery.”

Other community groups relocating to Baker Hall include Jus’ Dance, Swing ‘n Sway and the Redeemed Christian Church of God: King City Church.

Baker Hall is located at 6 Karbro Drive, Cardup, has the capacity to accommodate 50 people and will soon be available to hire for events such as birthdays and group functions.
