Survival Day Movie Afternoon

Thursday 21st April 2022

(Past Event)

Australia Day means many different things for many different people.

However, for our Aboriginal culture, Australia Day is also known as Survival Day and is not a day to celebrate, but a day for recognizing the survival of the First Nations Peoples, and of mourning what has been lost.

In respect to this day headspace Armadale have worked closely with Arche Health's Aboriginal Health Team and many other local community members to bring together an afternoon where a movie will be aired, in light of the Aboriginal Culture.

This is a time where the community, one and all can come together in a safe, comfortable environment to relax, connect and engage with other local community members.

The event includes:

  • Family friendly movie, highlighting Aboriginal Culture and history
  • Bran Nue Dae
  • Market stalls from local businesses, displaying their amazing products also available for purchase.
  • Popcorn machine (of course we have to have popcorn for a movie)
  • Sausage sizzle with some local meats including kangaroo, crocodile and emu.
  • Bean bags for comfort Family and friends are also welcome, the more the merrier!
