Beth Brown

I have been a proud resident of the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale for more than 20 years.

In the hope to make a difference I became a Councillor of the Shire in 2005, a role I remained in for more than six years. I was also an active fire fighter for three seasons during that same time.

However, in 2008 I fell from my horse, and she stepped on me several  times.  This accident caused significant damage to my back and leg.

I was in a wheelchair full time round although luckily for me, I can walk a few steps when aided. I was accepted by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and have been navigating the system for the past three years.

Through the Access and Inclusion Advisory Group I am hoping I can merge my vast knowledge of the facilities within the Shire together with the difficulties of living with a disability, to help make our beautiful Shire one that everyone can have full access to.
