Dog Exercise Area - Consultation

Bill Hicks Reserve Number 50321 Plaistowe Boulevard, Byford

In October 2016 the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale trialled an off leash Dog Exercise Area at Bill Hicks Reserve Number 50321 on Plaistowe Boulevard, Byford.  A new short term trial was recently resolved by Council, which is due to expire on 31 December 2019.

We are pleased to advise that a new Dog Exercise Park is being constructed at Lot 8010 Larsen Road, Byford and will be open for use by the end of November. This will have separate enclosed areas for large and small dogs to play off lead.

In view of the construction of the new Dog Exercise Park and its proximity to Bill Hicks Reserve, the Shire is seeking community feedback on whether Bill Hicks Reserve should remain an off leash dog exercise area.  Please note that residents will still be able to exercise their dogs “on lead” in the reserve, regardless of the decision. This will inform a report to Council who will determine whether to retain Bill Hicks Reserve as an off leash dog exercise area.

The Shire is providing a number of ways for you to give your feedback:

  • Drop by and talk to Shire staff on Wednesday 6 November from 4.30pm-6pm at Bill Hicks Reserve and complete a hard copy survey.
  • Complete the online survey here. (The Survey is now closed)

The map below details the locations of the two Dog Parks, with the distance between the two parks along Portwine Avenue is approximately 260 metres.
