Traffic Calming Devices to be Installed on Malarkey Road, between Ballagar Road and Abernethy Road

As part of its commitment to a safe road environment, the Shire has undertaken a traffic study Safety audit on Malarkey Road, Byford.  The traffic safety audit report recommended the following treatments to ensure the safety of local residents and road users:

(a)        Installation of two-lane slow points at multiple locations between Abernethy Road and Ballagar Road to control motorists’ speed;

(b)        Installation of additional signage or delineation where the designated bridle paths cross Malarkey Road to inform motorists of the potential for horse riders;

(c)        Installation of separation kerb between the traffic lanes and the footpath to reduce the risk of motorists encroaching on the path.

Based on the recommendation of the traffic safety audit report, the Shire has completed a civil and line marking work program that it intends to implement as part of its 2018/19 capital works program.  The works are to commenced mid-January 2019, with an expected completion date of end of March 2019.

During the civil works, residents are asked to please be aware of the traffic control affecting your street.  If traffic control is not present as you exit your street, please exit with the traffic flow with care.
