Keeping of Bees, Poultry and Large Animals in the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.
Beekeeping isn't permitted within the townsites of Byford, Mundijong, Jarrahdale and Serpentine without obtaining a permit from us. You can keep bee hives outside of these townsites, provided that they don't cause a nuisance to your neighbours or the surrounding area.
Most residents are eligible to keep up to 10 chickens (or other species of poultry) on their residential property, as long as they are kept in accordance with our health conditions. Roosters are generally only permissible within particular areas. Poultry farms are only permitted in areas of the Shire that are zoned accordingly. Planning approval and a building licence is required for any new poultry farm.
Keeping Large Animals
A large animal includes a cow, horse, pig, sheep, goat, deer, camel, llama, emu, ostrich and the like.
