Green and Hard Waste

Dates and information regarding the Shire's verge collection services.

We provide one hard waste and two green waste collections each financial year.

All waste is to be out for collection on the weekend prior to your collection week commencing.

Items that are placed on the verge after the commencement date for your area will not be collected.

We recommend allowing 5-7 working days for collection, from the commencement date for your area.

Green Waste

Your green waste collection should be a maximum of two 6 x 4 trailer loads per property and placed on the verge the weekend before your collection week:

 What we will collect and what we can't collect:

Allowed Not Allowed

✔ Trimmed tree branches up to 1.8m - cut ends to road

✘ Large tree trunks, stumps or roots

✔ Cuttings, shrubs and leaves in cardboard boxes

✘ Items longer than 1.8m

 

✘ Chemicals, asbestos or hazardous materials

 

✘ Soil, sand, lawn clippings or old reticulation

 

✘ General rubbish or junk

 

✘ Plastic bags or chaff bags with cuttings in them

Your hard waste collection should be a maximum of two 6 x 4 trailer loads per property and placed on your verge in two piles:

✔ All non-metal items

✔ Stoves

✘ Items longer than 1.8m

 

✔ Fridges/freezers (empty without doors)

✘ Excessively heavy items
 

✔ Hot water systems

✘ Paint
 

✔ Bicycles

✘ Building materials / rubble
 

✔ Washing machines / dryers

✘ TV's / computers
    ✘ Commercial waster / pallets
    ✘ Car batteries / tyres
    ✘ Glass
    ✘ Asbestos
    ✘ Green waste

Please note:

  • Drums must be empty and have lids removed
  • Large pieces of wire must be rolled
  • TV's and Computers can be taken to the Armadale Landfill and Recycling Facility for a $15 fee, we cannot collect these.
