Nominations open for Australia Day Active Citizenship Awards

Now is the time to nominate a person, group or event making a special community contribution in the Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire for an Australia Day award.

The Shire is calling for Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Award nominations in four categories. 

• Citizen of the Year - the nominee must be an Australian citizen and a resident within the Shire;
• Young Citizen of the Year - the nominee must be under 25 years of age on 26 January, 2010;
• Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Award  for a Community Group or Event;
• Clem Kentish Community Service - 20 years minimum length of service to the community.

Nominations for Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Awards close on Friday 27 November, 2009.

The public is encouraged to comment on a number of significant planning proposals, currently out for advertising until 18 December, which will determine how Byford develops into the future.

Two public information sessions will be held to provide opportunities for the local community to discuss these proposals with the Shire's elected members, staff and consultants.

These sessions will be at  the Serpentine Jarrahdale Recreation Centre, Mead Street, Byford on:

• 18 November, from 3pm-7pm, and
• 8 December, from 3pm-7pm.

November Greenwaste Collection

It's that time again for the Greenwaste Collection.  The following items will be collected:

• Tree and shrub prunings up to 1.5 metres in length
• Clippings are to be placed in a cardboard box
