Green and hard waste

All green and hard waste must be placed on the verge before 6am on the Monday of your collection week. To prevent unsightly verges, please place your waste out for collection as close as possible to the commencement date. Items that are placed on the verge after the commencement date for your area will not be collected.

Piles should be placed on the verge at least 1 metre from the edge of the road and must not obstruct footpaths, sprinklers, drains or the line of sight of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. Please allow 5 - 7 working days for collection.

Hard Waste Collections

Maximum of two 6 x 4 trailer loads per property. Residents are required to place items neatly on the verge in two piles as detailed below.

Pile 1

Non metal items.

Pile 2

Metal items including stoves, refrigerators (please remove doors), hot water systems, motor vehicle bodies* and parts.

NB: If you are placing a motor vehicle body out for collection, please notify the Shire on 9526 1307.

Items that should not be placed out for collection

  • Items longer than 1.8 metres (non metal component only)
  • Items too heavy to be lifted by two people (non metal component only)
  • Paint, building materials or rubble
  • Televisions, commercial or business waste and pallets
  • Car batteries, tyres or gas bottles (no car parts except seats)
  • Broken glass ot asbestos (no fibro-concrete products or dust products)
  • Green waste

Please note:

  • Drums must be empty and have lids removed
  • Fridges must be empty (remove all food and doors)
  • Large pieces of wire must be rolled

Collection Dates

16 - 20 April: Darling Downs, Oakford and Oldbury

23-27 April: Byford and Cardup (please note that all of Kiln Road will be done in the week)

30 April - 4 May: Mundijong, Whitby, Karrakup and Jarrahdale

7 - 11 May: Mardella, Serpentine, Hopeland and Keysbrook

Green Waste Collections

Maximum of two 6 x 4 standard trailer loads per property.

What can be included

  • Trimmed tree branches to a maximum of 1.8 metres (5.9 feet) place with cut ends towards road
  • Cuttings, shrubs and leaves must be placed together in a cardboard box for ease of collection
  • Boxes will not be returned

What cannot be included

  • Large tree trunks, stumps or roots
  • Items longer than 1.8 metres (5.9 feet) or 300mm diameter (12 inches)
  • Chemicals or associated products such as pots, soil, old reticulation etc
  • General household rubbish, asbestos, hazardous materials or junk
  • Plastic or chaff bags with cuttings in them
  • Sand or soil materials eg. lawn
  • Lawn clippings
