SJ prepares for ANZAC Day
Join the Serpentine Jarrahdale community to remember our veterans this ANZAC Day, Tuesday 25 April.
A spectacular and moving ANZAC Day Dawn Service will commence at 5.45am. The service will take place in the atmospheric grounds of ANZAC Crescent Memorial Park on the corner of Mead Street and Doley Road in Byford. A traditional Gunfire Breakfast will be served after the service by the Oakford Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade.
A Processional March will take place prior to a Commemorative Service at 9am. The March will form up at 8.30am at Gallipoli Avenue and will lead into the service in the ANZAC Crescent Memorial Park. A morning tea at 10am will be provided to round out the event.
Shire President Cr John Erren said that the Shire, Serpentine Jarrahdale RSL and community groups have worked closely to plan these very special events.
“Community gatherings like this involve a lot of work on the ground and careful consideration in order to be successful,” Cr Erren said. “Serpentine Jarrahdale RSL, Officers and community representatives have put a lot of time and effort into our annual ANZAC Day services in past years, and 2017 is no exception.”
“We’re grateful for the guidance and expertise of the Serpentine Jarrahdale RSL and we’d also like to thank our other community groups and organisations for their continued support of this important occasion,” Cr Erren said.
