SJ Celebrates National Volunteer Week
Have you thought about volunteering but don't know where to start?
The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is celebrating National Volunteer Week with an information day on potential volunteering opportunities in the Shire. This year’s theme is Give Happy, Live Happy, following on from research showing that volunteers live happier and healthier lives.
If you have thought about volunteering but don’t know where to start, come along to the SJ Community Resource Centre on 11 May from 1pm – 7pm to find out which organisations in the Shire are looking for active volunteers and what is involved.
Some of the interest groups that will be represented include sports, environment, events, woodworking and gardening, just to name a few.
Shire President, Cr John Erren said that approximately 17% of our community currently volunteer, which is 2% higher than the greater Perth.
Cr John Erren went onto say ‘volunteers are important to our community and we would like to thank all the volunteers currently active in the Shire.’
If you want to find out more about how you can make a difference in our community, this is a great opportunity to ask questions and research the groups that most interest you.
