New toilets at Percy’s Park in Byford will allow families and nearby residents to make greater use of the area’s playgrounds, barbeques and recreation facilities, says the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.
The facility will be open each day from 6am to 6pm from Saturday, June 2. As well as toilets, the facility includes a baby changing area, automatic lighting and timed taps.
Shire President Cr Michelle Rich said the facility would allow the area to grow into a focal point for community gatherings.
“Percy’s Park is a wonderful area where friends and families often gather for barbeques and get-togethers,” Cr Rich said.
“However, a lack of toilet facilities in the past has meant the area wasn’t able to be utilised to its full potential.
“With the completion of this new facility, the park can be used by more people, over longer periods of time and for a greater number of purposes.
“The Shire puts a lot of effort into maintaining our parks and reserves and we’re continually looking at ways to upgrade existing facilities for the betterment of the community.”
The Shire manages 24 parks and reserves from Byford in the north to Keysbrook in the south.
