Children's Safety First
Working with schools to improve safety for children.
The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is working closely with schools in our area to improve safety for children at pick up and drop off times.
The Shire Rangers are patrolling schools to ensure that parking signs are being adhered to, safe parking is taking place and parents are following safe practice when picking up or dropping their children off.
Some ways to keep your children safe are:
- Set a good example – teach your children about road safety and to be aware of their environment.
- Make sure your own driving and parking are not endangering your own or other children. Always be on the lookout of the unexpected.
Please consider walking a little extra to find a safe park instead of parking on a footpath, parking in another resident’s driveway or double parking and allowing children to run in front of other cars.
Sue Heath, Principal of Byford Primary School said ‘we are working closely with the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale to make child safety a priority at the Byford Primary School’.
When it comes to child safety, the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale and WA Police have no choice but to fine drivers who break the law around schools and school zones. If you are caught endangering a child by exceeding the speed limit or parking illegally in a school zone, you may be fined.
