Celebrate in the Shire this Australia Day

Live music, water slides and equestrian demonstrations will be among activities for the whole family at the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s annual Australia Day Festival on Saturday, January 26.

Held at the Serpentine Sports Ground, the day kicks off with a free barbeque breakfast from 7.30am. Entertainment and activities will run throughout the morning, with a citizenship and awards ceremony to get underway at 10am ahead of a community morning tea.

Shire President Cr Michelle Rich said day was an opportunity to celebrate our shared values and recognise those who make an extraordinary contribution to Australian way of life.

“Each Australia Day we come together as a community to reflect on the things that connect us all as Australians,” Cr Rich said.

“We also join in welcoming new Australian citizens and celebrating the achievements of so many remarkable individuals who have come to embody our sense of national spirit.

“On behalf of the Shire, I would like to extend an invitation to all residents to come and celebrate Australia Day with their friends, family and neighbours.”

Entertainment will be provided by the Heritage Country Choir and Mucky Duck Bush Band, with bouncy castles, an obstacle course, waterslides and arts & crafts activities for children.

Riders from the Serpentine Horse and Pony Club will showcase their talents with an equestrian demonstration, while festivalgoers will also be able to see an array of classic cars owned by members of the Byford Classic Car Club.
