Achievements to be highlighted at Elector’s General Meeting
The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has set its Electors General Meeting (EGM) for December 20 following the recent adoption of its 2018 Annual Report.
In what is considered a good indicator of strong financial management, this year’s EGM will be held just six weeks after delivery of an auditor’s report into the Shire’s finances.
Under the Local Government Act, all WA Councils are required to adopt an Annual Report by no later than December 31. The Shire’s 2018 Annual Report was adopted on November 26.
At this month’s EGM, the Shire will formally present the Annual Report to residents and outline its financial position and achievements over the previous 12 months. The Annual Report is currently available on the Shire’s website, and limited copies may be collected in print at the EGM.
At the meeting, residents will also have the opportunity to ask questions of elected members. All questions must be submitted to the Shire at least 48 hours to the meeting.
Shire President Cr Michelle Rich encouraged residents to attend the EGM to learn more about the Shire’s achievements in 2018.
“Much has been accomplished in 2018 and the EGM is an opportunity to revisit those achievements and let people know the progress we’re making towards the objectives in our Strategic Community Plan,” Cr Rich said.
“This year, we’re holding the EGM earlier than usual which reflects the fact we’re in a good position to really forge ahead with many of our big-picture plans in 2019.
“Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting and we encourage all residents to head along or view a copy of the Annual Report online.”
