School Holiday Camps

For over 25 years, our Youth & Community Development Officer has been highly recommending these Department of Sport & Recreation (DSR) overnight camps and their day program of activities.

If you have any queries or would like further information via e-mail on the above DSR Camps, please contact Debbie Courtney at DSR on 9492 9779 or e-mail: Debbie.Courtney@dsr.wa.gov.au

All DSR school holiday camps operate on a minimal numbers required to go ahead, and also promote a participant code of behaviour which can be viewed on the DSR website.

Youth Worker & Youth Development Training Courses

A newly established youth worker skills training program is being developed by the Shire in partnership with several accredited training service providers, including the Wild - Wilderness First Aid Training.

This local training skills network and the related youth worker training programs are available for all community members, young adults and youth workers who work with, or would like to work with, young people in our Shire. These training courses are run on a casual basis, as well as on an 'as-needed' basis.

Each year, the SJ Shire sponsors various young people (up to 25 years of age) to attend various Youth Training & Development Courses on offer through our youth grants program.

Some of the previous youth training course approvals have included: Senior First Aid, Flat Water Canoe Guide, Bronze Medallion, Advanced Wilderness First Aid, Safe Food Handling, Swimming Teacher Training and Swift Water Rescue training.

These training courses need to be Nationally Accredited and approved by our Youth & Community Development Officer. If you would like further information, please contact the Shire on 9526 1111.
