Grant Funding

Grant funding can be a great way for communities to build their capacity and fund worthy projects.

Community Funding Program

Byford & Districts Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank and the Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire have again entered into a funding partnership. The 2012/2013 round of grant funding is now open for applications. All applications must be discussed with the Community Development team on 9526 1139 prior to being submitted and correctly completed forms must be received by the Shire by 5pm on Friday 30 March 2012.

Local community groups are encouraged to apply for funding of up to $1,500 (ex GST) for a variety of purposes, which may include:

  • Projects, activities or programs that have a designated start and end date eg. school vegetable garden, courses
  • Equipment, for example, sporting equipment, toys for playgroups, tables and chairs
  • Funding to assist the development of new community organisations (seed funding)
  • Funding for existing groups towards larger projects where other funding may also be sought, for example,  environment restoration, upgrades to facilities (subject to any necessary planning/building /reserves approval)

Locality Funding Program

The 2012/2013 round of grant funding is now open for applications. All applications must be discussed with the Community Development team on 9526 1139 prior to being submitted and correctly completed forms must be received by the Shire by 5pm on Friday 29 June 2012.

All projects should benefit the wider local community in the localities of Oakford, Byford, Mundijong, Jarrahdale, Serpentine and Keysbrook and be on land owned by or vested in the Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire that is accessible to the public.

Typical projects may include; a locality entry statement, shade structures, street furniture, art in public places, picnic and barbeque facilities, memorials, playground equipment and re-vegetation etc.

Community Sponsorship Fund

The Community Sponsorship Fund donates $100 to Shire residents to help with the cost of competing in national or international sporting and cultural events.

Eligible local residents can only make one request per financial year. To apply, please include your name, date of birth, postal address and the event you are seeking sponsorship for to Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire, 6 Paterson St, Mundijong 6123 or email info@sjshire.wa.gov.au.

KidSport Program

KidSport is a major component in the Department of Sport and Recreation’s Sport 4 All initiative which aims to increase the number of children and youth participating in community sport and recreation clubs. Under the KidSport program, eligible kids within the Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire aged between five and 18 years will receive subsidies of up to $200 annually towards club registration fees.

To apply, please fill out the below application voucher and drop it off at the Shire’s Administration Centre.

Grants Directory

The Department of Local Government and Regional Development has a grants directory which contains programs provided by the West Australian Government as well as private sector organisations.
