Graffiti

Prevention

You can reduce the likelihood of graffiti vandalism on your property by:

  • Planting creepers and foliage along walls and fences
  • Painting in dark colours
  • Keeping your property well maintained
  • Installing sensor lights making sure the area is well lit at night
  • Investigate the benefits of having an anti graffiti coating applied
  • Remove any and all graffiti as soon as possible to deter a recurrence

Reporting Graffiti on Council Property

The Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire is responsible for removing graffiti from infrastructure managed or owned by Council such as road reserves, footpaths, street furniture, sculptures, artworks and buildings.

To report damage to Council property, please email info@sjshire.wa.gov.au or call our Administration centre on 9526 1111.

Removal from private property

Private property owners are responsible for removing graffiti from their property within the Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire. Prompt removal of graffiti helps defeat vandals as it diminishes the level of recognition and reward achieved by these offenders.

Graffiti is a criminal offence. Therefore, all instances of graffiti on your property should be reported.

Please call the Goodbye Graffiti hotline on 1800 442 255 or visit www.goodbyegraffiti.wa.gov.au to report online.

Police rely on information from the community to make arrests. It is a good idea to take a photo of the graffiti vandalism for your records and police records - this will also assist if you have to lodge an insurance claim.
