The Local Biodiversity Strategy was adopted by the Serpentine Jarrahdale Council toward the end of 2008.

Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire recognises the importance of providing support and incentives to landowners with bushland and other natural areas.

The strategy provides for a range of mechanisms to assist with sound biodiversity management practices on private property including:

  • Directing private property owners to grant funding
  • Zoning including conservation zoning and special purpose conservation living zoning with associated rate relief
  • A stewardship healthy habitats program providing assessment and guidance on management
